On February 2, 2016, the Saratoga City Council approved joining a countywide Community Choice Energy (CCE) partnership. This partnership will pool customer electricity demand and accelerate the shift toward the use of renewable energy with low greenhouse gas (GHG) emitting energy sources through a community procurement program.
Saratoga residents will be given a choice to select a higher proportion of green renewable energy sources with lower or cost-neutral rates, or continue with Pacific Gas and Electric's energy source selection. Pacific Gas and Electric will remain an essential partner through providing energy to customers, maintaining the distribution system, and billing customers. The difference will be in the source of the power you select. Pre-enrollment information will be mailed to residents in the summer of 2016.
Eliminating Greenhouse Gases
Electricity consumption is a significant source of GHG emissions, so tackling how that energy is used and sourced becomes essential to achieving climate goals.
