Hakone Gardens is a City park managed and maintained by the Hakone Foundation, a nonprofit organization. Hakone is one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's premier sites and one of the oldest Japanese estate, retreat, and gardens in the Western Hemisphere.
Residents of Saratoga can access the park for free on the first Tuesday of every month. Provide proof of address to receive free admission for yourself and one guest.
In 2016, the City Council and Hakone Foundation Board adopted a master plan for the gardens. The Master Plan serves as a long-term vision for the restoration of existing structures, gardens, and future additions that complement and enhance the historic property.
