COVID-19 Testing on October 12

The County will hold a COVID-19 testing day on Tuesday, October 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Saratoga Prospect Center in Friendship Hall. Testing is free and open to the public. Appointments can now be scheduled online at https://direc.to/eyD1

This testing site is intended for people who do not have symptoms and have not been exposed to COVID-19. Testing is recommended for anyone who works with the public, takes public transit, or has attended a mass gathering. The County also offers free testing for those with COVID-19 symptoms or anyone who has been exposed to others with COVID-19 or COVID-19 symptoms. For more information, visit www.sccfreetest.org

Evacuation Zone Webinar - September 29

Do you know when to evacuate? Do you want real-time evacuation updates? The new tool Zonehaven makes evacuations easy to understand, allowing you to determine evacuation status for your community, your neighborhood, and even individual addresses.  

Join Santa Clara County Fire Department for a free #KnowYourZone webinar on Wednesday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. Register online. This webinar will address the Zonehaven platform, emergency alerting, how to safely evacuate, and standardized evacuation terminology.

Additional 2021 classes are scheduled for October 21 and November 2. Classes in 2022 are scheduled for January 11, February 3, and March 9.

Housing Element Community Meetings

Join the City of Saratoga’s Planning Commission for a series of community meetings where you can share your input on the Housing Element Update. The Planning Commission is seeking ideas for possible opportunity sites and housing policies to consider before they make a recommendation to the City Council.

Please mark your calendar for the following meeting dates:

  • Wednesday, October 27 at 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 9 at 6 p.m.
  • Monday, November 22 at 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 7 at 6 p.m.

Meeting locations and/or participation details will be finalized closer to the meeting dates to comply with the latest COVID-19 guidance. For information on how to attend and participate in meetings, or to submit written comments, visit www.saratoga.ca.us/housing

The Housing Element Update is an ongoing process, and the City continues to receive new information from the State and regional planning organizations. The most current information was presented to the City Council and Planning Commission at a virtual Study Session on August 31. You can watch the Study Session and learn about opportunity sites, policies, and more.

Saratoga Youth Commission Recognized by League of California Cities

On September 23, Saratoga Youth Commission's Pizza & Politics was recognized with a Helen Putnam Award during the League of California Cities Annual Conference. Pizza & Politics is a political forum for youth coordinated collaboratively by the Saratoga Youth Commission, Cupertino Teen Commission, and Campbell Youth Commission during election years. The event was created by teens for teens to encourage youth engagement in local politics.

Volunteering for a City Commission is a great way to learn about the City, give back to the community, and explore your interests in a new way. The City is currently accepting applications for the Parks and Recreation Commission, Public Art Commission, Heritage Preservation Commission, and Traffic Safety Commission.
