New Mayor and Vice Mayor

At the City Council Reorganization on December 1, the Council selected Tina Walia to serve as Mayor and Kookie Fitzsimmons to serve as Vice Mayor for the next year. Last Housing Element Community Meeting

On Tuesday, December 7 at 6 p.m., the Planning Commission will hold their last meeting in a series of four meetings on the Housing Element. At this meeting, they will discuss specific sites where housing can be built in Saratoga, as well as policies to support housing development. This is your final opportunity to have your voice heard before the Planning Commission makes its recommendation to the City Council.

Tips & Trends: Holiday Safety

Help make the holidays merry this year by following these safety tips:
  • Place a hold on mail and newspaper delivery when going out of town
  • Prevent package theft by delivering packages to your workplace, a shipping locker, a trusted neighbor, or holding the package for pick-up
  • Secure your mail with a locking mailbox and never leave mail in the mailbox overnight
  • Remove packages from your doorstep as soon as possible

Saratoga Retirement Community Project Meeting

On Thursday, December 9 at 6 p.m., a Public Scoping Meeting for the Saratoga Retirement Community project will be held. You are invited to share your comments on the type and extent of environmental analysis to be included in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR).

Volunteer at Quarry Park

The Parks and Recreation Commission's Let's Work Program helps beautify and maintain the trails at Quarry Park. The volunteer group meets the second Saturday from November through April, weather permitting. The next meetup is Saturday, December 11 from 9 a.m. to noon. Please visit www.saratoga.ca.us/volunteer to submit volunteer forms by the Wednesday before a Let's Work Event on Saturday. Volunteers should meet in the Quarry Park parking lot and bring gloves, water, and sunscreen. Please wear closed-toed shoes and long sleeves. 

Lehigh Hanson Quarry Meeting

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) is holding a public Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, December 8 at 7 p.m. to to provide updates on the Lehigh Hanson Quarry and Cement Plant, which neighbors the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve and County Park. Recently, Midpen entered into an agreement with Santa Clara County to help preserve the Ridgeline Easement that protects the preserve, county park, and surrounding communities from impacts from the quarry. Visit Midpen's website for more information on the Ridgeline Easement and to sign up for notification of all projects affecting the preserve. 

Eden Estate Winery Community Meeting

On Thursday, December 16 at 6 p.m., the City will host a virtual Community Meeting to discuss Eden Estate Winery’s application requesting a Conditional Use Permit for winery operations that include appointment-only wine tasting and two dinner events per year.
