School Safety Forum

With the start of the school year coming up and in response to recent tragedies, the City of Saratoga and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a School Safety Forum on Tuesday, August 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Joan Pisani Community Center at 19655 Allendale Avenue. The community is invited to attend to learn about the school safety practices of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office in Saratoga and ask questions. Movie Night

Join the City for the final Movie Night of the summer, a Frozen Sing-A-Long on Friday, August 19 in El Quito Park (12855 Paseo Presada). The event will begin at 7:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at sundown. Please come early to find a good spot and enjoy the resource tables.

Saratoga Safety Fair

Register today for the City of Saratoga Safety Fair on Thursday, September 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Attendees will have a chance to briefly talk one-on-one with public safety organizations on topics, like preventing crime or wildfires. Each registered household will receive a free Neighborhood Watch gift bag. Visit www.saratoga.ca.us/fair to register.

Volunteer to Serve your City! 

We're seeking civic-minded citizens to apply to serve on the City's various Commissions. There are currently openings on the Public Art, Library & Community Engagement, Parks & Recreation, and Traffic Safety Commissions. Visit www.saratoga.ca.us/comvac to learn more and apply online!

Sanitary Sewer Replacement Saratoga Ave. & La Paloma

West Valley Sanitary District will be replacing about 60 feet of 12-inch diameter sanitary sewer fronting 14320 Saratoga Avenue and La Paloma. Construction will begin on Monday, August 8. Installation and asphalt restoration will be completed by Friday, August 19. Residents can expect a delay on this section of Saratoga Avenue during this time. Traffic control measures will include messaging boards and a flagger to direct traffic.

Safe Routes to School 

At the July 14 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission reviewed the draft Safe Routes to School Master Plan and recommended City Council approval at the September 7 Council Meeting. Please review the review the draft Safe Routes to School Master Plan (PDF) with recommend projects for each school location. You can share your feedback with the Council at the meeting. Participation information will be included on the meeting agenda and shared when available. Learn more on the City website at www.saratoga.ca.us/SRTS

Pierce Road Stabilization Project - Schedule & Detour

The Pierce Road Stabilization Project is scheduled to start on August 10 is currently expected to be completed by mid-October. On Pierce Road, just west of Chalet Clotilde Drive, an additional 40-foot-long retaining wall will be placed in front of the existing retaining wall where the existing pier columns are being exposed due to erosion. From August 10 through August 19, a 24-hour detour will be in place to allow a crane to place the heavy, steel beams. The detour will send drivers to Surrey Lane, Saraview Drive, and Sarahills Drive to get around the project site.
