Conserve Energy During Flex Alert

Due to extreme heat, a statewide Flex Alert has been issued again today, September 2. Please conserve energy and lower usage from 4 to 9 p.m. Simple actions like unplugging appliances, turning off lights, and using fans instead of air conditioning can contribute to conservation during this time. Pavement Management Program

Work for Saratoga’s 2022 Pavement Management Program will begin on Tuesday, September 6 in the Via Roncole and Arroyo De Arguello neighborhood. Patching and overlays will be done on certain roads, and roads that are being patched but not overlaid will be micro-surfaced starting in mid-October. Please keep an eye out for “No Parking” barricades and for mailed notice providing additional details about the repaving.

Be a Good Neighbor, Spend Time Together

Good neighbors are the key to creating a vibrant and healthy community. In recognition of Good Neighbor Day on September 29, the City of Saratoga is challenging every resident to spend time with their neighbors during the month of September to start building stronger neighborhoods. Consider starting small. Say hello to fellow residents while out on a walk, strike up a conversation with the residents next door when you see each other in passing, or offer to keep an eye on a neighbor’s house when they are out of town. Safe Routes to School

On September 7, the City Council will review the draft Safe Routes to School Master Plan, which identifies improvements that could be made around schools to encourage walking or biking to school and around neighborhoods. Please review the draft Master Plan and recommended projects for each school location, then share your feedback with the City Council at their meeting. Online Art Challenge

Attention Saratoga artists! Sharpen your pencils and clean your brushes to get ready for the City of Saratoga Online Art Challenge. Register by September 30 to submit your artwork inspired by monthly themes during the month of October, November, and December. Saratoga Safety Fair

Register today for the City of Saratoga Safety Fair on Thursday, September 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Attendees will have a chance to briefly talk one-on-one with public safety organizations on topics, like preventing crime or wildfires. Saratoga Loves Poetry

Attention Saratoga students! Show off your writing skills by participating in the Saratoga Loves Poetry contest, open to students in grades kindergarten through 12 who live or attend school in Saratoga. State Route 85 Overnight Lane Closures

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has started work to install new traffic striping and fog seal along State Route 85 (SR 85) between the freeway interchanges of Almaden Expressway to Stevens Creek Boulevard. SR 85 will remain open, but temporary lane closures are needed for crews to safely work. Lane closures are scheduled for Monday through Friday in the northbound direction from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and southbound from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Work is expected to be complete by October 2022.
